Dean Smith

Marina Manager

Dean joined MDL in April 2023. He previously worked as the Deputy Harbour Master & Area Operations Manager for the Canal and River Trust covering central London’s canal system and Canary Wharf's West India Dock. Dean began life in the marine industry in 2010 working on passenger vessels on the lower Thames, starting on the deck and working up the ranks to the role of captain.

Andy Young

Dockmaster

Andy is an integral part of team Penton Hook. He has worked for MDL at Penton since 2001 and has a wealth of experience within the marine industry. Previous to MDL, Andy has had various roles including agriculture in which he operated machinery and plant, entertainment retail and the local authority. Look out for Andy walking the site and pontoons.

David Potterton

Marina Operative

David has a wealth of boating experience after spending his whole working life on the Thames. He is an integral part of the team at Penton Hook and has been since joining in 1998. Prior to MDL, David was employed as a skipper on large pleasure cruisers on the Thames, in and around Windsor. Look out for David checking customers boats to make sure they are safe and secure.

Matthew Major

Marina Operative

Matt started at Penton Hook Marina in January 2023 and comes with many years' boating experience on the Norfolk Broads. He has spent over 30 happy years in customer facing roles with 23 of those as international cabin crew based out of Heathrow Airport. Matt is always ready to help with a friendly smile, be sure to say hello as he walks the pontoons.
