Exciting improvements underway at Penton Hook Marina
As part of our continued investment in Penton Hook Marina, we’re pleased to share a number of developments and enhancements taking place across the marina as part of our ongoing improvement programme.
From upgraded facilities and improved marina infrastructure to new social spaces and expanded berthing opportunities, these improvements are designed to enhance the experience for both existing berth holders and visiting boaters.
COMING SOON
Expanded Narrowboat & Barge Berthing
New narrowboat and barge berthing is coming to Penton Hook Marina, with dedicated berths for vessels up to 20m.
To support the expansion, X Pontoon will be reconfigured to accommodate additional narrowboats and barges, creating increased berthing capacity within the marina.

A new waterside café & social space
Plans are underway for a brand new waterside café, expected to open for the 2027 boating season.
Designed as a welcoming social space within the marina, the café will provide a relaxed setting to enjoy food, drinks and time by the water, with reasonably priced options for all to enjoy.
Ahead of the café opening, a seasonal food and drink pop up is planned for summer 2026, creating another place to unwind and take in the marina’s peaceful surroundings.
Alongside this, the Marina Office will continue to host a programme of marina events, creating more opportunities to meet, socialise and spend time at Penton Hook Marina.

Hangar Berth Holder Facilities Refurbishment
The Hangar berth holder facilities are set to undergo a full refurbishment as part of ongoing improvements across the marina.
The project will modernise both the interior and exterior of the facilities block, creating a brighter, more contemporary environment for berth holders and visitors.
Improvements will include upgraded shower and washroom facilities, new flooring and finishes, improved heating and lighting, alongside external enhancements including timber cladding and full redecoration to create a fresh, modern new look throughout the building.
Additional Marina Improvements
Alongside these developments, a number of further upgrades are planned across Penton Hook Marina, including:
Enhancements to the main entrance area, including removal of unused buildings and new landscaping
An upgraded fuel berth with new tanks and pumps, providing both diesel and unleaded fuel for easier refuelling before heading out
An additional pump out facility to improve availability and convenience
Upgraded signage across the marina to improve navigation and refresh the overall appearance of the site
Surface repairs to Mixnams Lane to improve access in and out of the marina
