Emma joined MDL in September 2020. She previously managed a harbour not too far from Chatham. Emma has been in the marine industry for over 20 years, starting off on deck for a high-speed ferry service and making her way up the ranks to the role of Captain.
Andrew is our newest recruit and spent 5 years in sales and 4 years in landscape gardening. Through this he has acquired a wide range of skills which are relative to the marine industry. You will normally find Andrew on the pontoons whistling away with a big smile on his face.
Night Marina Operative
Barry has been at Chatham Maritime Marina as a night marina operative since 2005, always has a smile on his face and always has time for berth holders and colleagues alike. Barry started his career in the Military then became a Police Officer for 16 years in London. You will often see Barry carrying out nightly patrols of the marina including the boatyard.
Connor started at Chatham Maritime Marina as a Seasonal member of staff in April 2021 before being promoted to a full-time role of Marina Operative in June 2021. You will mostly see Connor in the office or on the pontoons doing the daily duties. Outside of work, Connor enjoys the outdoor life and takes on many challenges in order to raise money for charities such as WWF.
Evelyn is one of our newest members of the team and can often be found in the office or along the pontoons looking to help with something new with an eager smile.
James joined MDL Chatham Marina in April 2021 and has taken well to his role working in the boatyard and marina. With a previous experience at another boatyard he has a good understanding of the nature of the work, James can be found mostly on the lifting quay, lifting boats, maintaining the plant and keeping the yard tidy, James is always willing to lend a hand. In his spare time James enjoys playing guitar and taking his dog for long walks.
John has been at Chatham Maritime Marina for twenty years, and has the distinction of being the only staff member titled Lock Keeper! In his spare time he works with the Paddle Steamer Medway Queen and the Light Ship 21, and has interests in a number of other marine and transport heritage projects.
Night Marina Operative
Mark has been working as a night marina operative at Chatham since June 2019. He also keeps his sailing vessel “Bellestar” in the marina for the last eight years. He has had several different occupations over his career but thoroughly enjoys the sport of sailing and understands that every day is different out on the water and not to be taken for granted.
Richard has joined MDL Chatham Marina as a casual Marina Operative. He is a commercially endorsed Yacht Master and spent 20 years with Kent Police, half of this time being with the Marine Unit. Richard left the Police to work in the Mediterranean as skipper of a 27m motor yacht. On return from the Med he joined City Cruises as their Operations Manager before joining the Port of London Authority as a Vessel Traffic Service Officer. Richard currently works for the Port of Dover as a VTSO.
Taylor started at Chatham in 2017 as Winter Banksman and Summer Lock Keeper,. Since then he has taken on the role as a full time Marina Operative and has developed skills in the office as well as in the boatyard. Previous to his role at MDL Taylor managed his own business. You will always find Taylor ready to help.
Wayne started at MDL Marinas through an agency as Summer Lock Keeper before being promoted to a full time Marina Operative in 2016. He previously worked in the security industry and you will mostly see him in the boatyard driving the plant machinery, but he can also be found in the office organising the lifts for the berth holders.
