Welcome to Sparkes Marina Winter News

As things are starting to return to ‘normal’ after the pandemic, we’ve had a very busy summer season during 2021 and we do hope that you’ve all been on some fantastic adventures.

This year was the first time we’ve had the new Versadocks installed and in use at the marina, which have proved very successful. This new installation has made it far easier for our former Dry Boat Sailing customers to go out boating whenever they choose to, rather than being reliant on the crane, so this has worked out very well for everyone.

There’s also been lots of other improvements at the marina this year. In May we incorporated a new ‘Members Lounge’ area on-site, located just outside the main office, where berth holders can grab a hot drink and take some time out or indeed work form the desk just in the back room. There is also a notice board showing all current offers and any important information related to the marina, so please do pop by if you haven’t already.

During the summer months we’ve been successful with our flowerbeds (thanks to the sun AND the rain!) as we are the proud winners of our annual in-house ‘MDL in Bloom’ competition, coming 1st in the ‘outstanding tubs and borders’ category – and didn’t they look spectacular!

As we’re sure you’ve seen recently (the lovely shiny new concrete is the main giveaway!), we have been busy completing the remedial works on the outer wall towards the back of the marina (towards HISC). The first phase of these works is now near completion, and the other phases will continue in due course.

Going forward into the colder months and beyond, we have all our winter tasks ahead, including:

• Annual dredging of the Versadock area
• Pontoon replacement on A and B line & re-decking pier D
• General site/pontoon maintenance

Looking towards 2022, the marina is fully occupied once again, so we expect to have another busy season ahead. You’ll see some familiar (and possibly new) faces around the marina, as our summer staff return to help make the season run smoothly for you.
