Welcome to Shamrock Quay Winter News

As we bid bon voyage to the Summer of 2021 and head towards our winter maintenance period, we thought we’d take the opportunity to look back over some of the improvements that have been undertaken at Shamrock Quay during 2021, as well as update you on some of the further improvements that are planned for 2022.

For your Convenience:

At the start of the season, we commenced an ambitious schedule to complete several projects on site which included:

  • Remarking all the car parking spaces and hatched areas around the Marina parking zones
  • Creating an undercover boat storage area by recovering what was the old BD tent and installing an electricity power supply and LED lighting
  • Resurfacing an area of the top yard, replacing the concrete which had broken up
  • Carrying out Hoist Dock corrosion protection works

For your Safety:

A perimeter fence was installed along the water’s edge embankment in the lower yard, incorporating a safe walking pedestrian pathway. As part of our commitment to go greener, we also installed LED lighting along the full length of the boundary whilst upgrading the power supply for the boats that will be stored in this area over the winter. Work is already underway to install a fence and LED lighting along the area of exposed embankment in the top yard. That’s not all though, we also took the opportunity to improve items on the pontoons, replaced all of the life rings and throw lines, along with the fire extinguisher cabinets.

For your Security:

This year we stepped up the on-site security even further by removing the existing CCTV camera network and replacing it with a new state-of-the-art system of CCTV cameras covering every area of Shamrock Quay. For those who have items on board that are needed but rarely used, we have also installed 16 self-contained lockable storage lockers to help you keep your boat spacious and items secure. Contact the marina office for details.

For your Enjoyment:

With the growth in the boating market increasing significantly, visitor berthing at some marinas has been difficult to secure. We therefore introduced the ‘Summer of Fun’ prize draw, with customers entered into the draw when they informed the team of their departure from their berth. This saw 131 customers boats entered and a total of 456 nights made available for visiting boats. Thank you for your help, which had enabled customers to enjoy other cruising destinations. We will be back in 2022 with a bigger array of prizes available.

Christmas is now firmly on the horizon and there will be festive treats at the marina for you to enjoy, so if you’re visiting be sure to pop into the marina office and enjoy a treat with the team. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to another great season ahead!
