Shamrock Quay Berth Holder News

Firstly, a huge thank you from the Shamrock Quay team to you, our amazing berth holders and customers, who have kept your boat with us or used our services over the past year. What a year it has been.

While the season’s weather has been somewhat unseasonal at times, the activity levels have remained consistently high and it has been great to see so many of you out and about, enjoying your time on the water over the past few months.

With winter now upon us our team turn their heads toward our winter lift out and site maintenance programme as we prepare the marina for the 2024 season.

Ahead of this, let’s take a look back over some of the improvements, activities and services that have been undertaken here at Shamrock Quay during 2023, as well as update you on some of the further improvements that are planned for 2024.

For your enjoyment:

2023 saw us proudly welcome more visiting vessels and we provided over 1,261 berthing nights under our Otium loyalty scheme and 965 Freedom Berthing nights.

Our lifting team have serviced more boat lifts since the start of 2023 than in many recent years with over 705 separate lifts being provided to date.

As the warmer weather arrived, Spring saw our berth holder events calendar go into overdrive. We started the year with Easter treats where a variety of Easter eggs and refreshments were delivered to those on board.

May heralded the King’s Coronation and what better way to celebrate this than with a Coronation cream tea all provided by the Shamrock Quay Team.

As summer began the team hosted several berth holder events. In June we delivered our very first ‘Taste of the Mediterranean event’ consisting of foods and refreshments from around the Med. This was very warmly received and thoroughly enjoyed by all of those attending, and we’re sure it will feature again in 2024.

This was quickly followed by our ever popular ‘Cheese and Wine afternoon’. We know this is always a popular event and this year saw record numbers attend, so much so that we purchased additional seating to accommodate the increase in people attending.

The theme continued throughout the summer months with the trolley of treats providing welcome refreshments to our customers on a further eight separate occasions.

Planning for our 2024 events is already underway and we look forward to delivering a fantastic experience to each and every one of our customers in 2024.

For your convenience:

With many marinas at capacity and waiting lists in certain sizes, Shamrock Quay undertook an ambitious programme of investment in our pontoon infrastructure with Phase 1 of the reconfiguration of H and J pontoons.

This saw H pontoon move 10 metres and the installation of new Hammerheads and longer Pontoons on H, I and J pontoons to meet the demand for berthing up to 12 metres LOA.

A new boat transport access road was constructed to allow wide boat transports direct access into the yard. This has seen a significant improvement for vehicles accessing the marina, reducing congestion not only on the marina entrance / exit road but also along the road within the marina itself.

To further ease vehicle parking pressures, we commenced the installation of our new car parking management system. Testing of the system is now underway, and this is scheduled to go live shortly. Please ensure you have your access card with you when you’re visiting the marina as it will be required when the system goes live.

For 2024:

2024 promises to be a year of further upgrades and improvements with Phase 2 of the H to K pontoon rebuild. This will see the removal of the remaining existing piles and smaller pontoons, and the installation of new piles, pontoons and services just in time for the start of the season.

Over the winter months, we’ll also be undertaking an ambitious dredging programme to maintain a constant depth within the marina as well as resurfacing areas of tarmac on the through road within the marina boundary.

At your service:

Your marina team remains dedicated to providing you with a first-class service each and every time. We’re here when you need us and you can rest assured the Shamrock Quay team will be looking after your boat in your absence, protecting your asset 24 hrs a day 365 days a year.

Remember, if you’re visiting the marina during December, be sure to pop into the marina office and enjoy a festive treat with the team as we bid Bon Voyage to 2023 and look forward to 2024.

Thank you once again for your continued support and we look forward to another great season ahead!
