Ocean Safety launches two groundbreaking Jon Buoy products at Metstrade 2025



Ocean Safety, based at Saxon Wharf in Southampton, has revealed a new era of marine safety innovation at Metstrade 2025, with the global launch of two advanced additions to its Jon Buoy range: the Jon Buoy EVAC and the Jon Buoy Mk 6 Smart Release.

Building on decades of trusted design, the Jon Buoy line has long set the standard for man overboard recovery and abandonment equipment. These latest solutions are engineered to deliver rapid, reliable protection for both leisure and commercial users - when safety matters most.

Jon Buoy EVAC
The Jon Buoy EVAC has been designed specifically for leisure boaters under sail or power, offering a safe and reliable short-term abandonment option when a full liferaft is not required. Available in 4- or 6-person configurations, the EVAC is compact, lightweight and easy to deploy.

Key features include:

  • Automatic inflation
  • Inflatable arch and canopy
  • High-visibility yellow carcass and red canopy for safety in emergencies
  • Boarding ladder, grab handles, and weighted keel for stability and access
  • 3-year service interval
  • Semi-rigid valise and carry handle, allowing easy transport to and from the vessel

Jon Buoy Mk 6 Smart Release
The Jon Buoy Mk 6 Smart Release is an integrated solution for the Jon Buoy Mk 6 Recovery Module, allowing remote deployment directly from the bridge or an onboard location. With its illuminated activation button, versatile mounting options, it ensures immediate response in a man overboard emergency. In addition, for the first time, the launching of MOB equipment can be integrated into your vessels NMEA2000 network allowing deployment from within the vessels electronic network.

Key features include:

  • Immediate remote activation
  • Protective push-button & ON/OFF arming switch
  • 3-year service interval with joint servicing schedule
  • Inline connector for easy servicing
