Mercury Yacht Harbour welcomes new Manager

We're delighted to announce that Simon Cothill is the new manager of Mercury Yacht Harbour and Holiday Park.

Simon was born and raised in South Africa and holds dual South African and Portuguese citizenship. He is married to Diane and they have two sons who are both grown and flown the nest.

His early career began in a corporate sales environment and he spent 10 years with the company, a national OEM (original equipment manufacturer), starting as a junior sales representative and working his way up the corporate ladder to Divisional Director in charge of two of their four divisions.

Simon switched his career to the Real Estate environment during the property boom times in the early 2000’s and started and built a successful Residential and Commercial Real Estate business. The success of this business allowed him to pursue his love of sailing and qualified as a Yachtmaster during this time.

Simon and his wife decided to go traveling and did an Atlantic crossing in 2013 and spent the next four years working as charter boat crew entertaining and teaching their guests to sail, scuba dive and generally have a good time. Their travels took them all over the Caribbean Islands and then later the Greek Islands around the Ionian Sea. They returned to the U.K. permanently in 2017 and Simon started working for MDL.

I was very fortunate to secure a role as a dockmaster with MDL, which allowed me to play with boats every day and interact with our wonderful berth holders.

Simon says that he cannot wait to start this new chapter of his career with MDL and looks forward to meeting and interacting with our berth holders and MDL team at Mercury Yacht Harbour and Holiday Park.
