Mike has worked for MDL since 2002. He has Managed Northney, Dartside Quay and currently is the Marina Manager at Torquay Marina. Mike served for 22 years in the Army and was a PTI instructor. He is a Certified Marina Manager and enjoys cycling, walking, and is a keen West Ham United fan.
Studying travel and tourism, Charlie has a keen interest in the marine sector. Having worked for Torquay Marina since 2015, Charlie has settled into a reception and support administrator role within the company. With 14 year’s experience in retail, Charlie brings a variety of skills to the team helping us to deliver an exceptional level of customer service. Whilst off duty Charlie likes being out in the sunshine enjoying the stunning scenery that the English Riviera has to offer.
Having spent 27 years at sea in the Merchant Navy, Dave came ashore and went into the hospitality industry running a 15-bedroom, bed & breakfast guest house in Dorchester for 6 years. When the owners retired, a job was offered at Portland Marina, and he became a night berthing master for just over 12 years before joining MDL in May 2021. Dave's spare time is spent mostly with his son and close family. He also has a Colvic fishing boat moored on the River Dart and enjoys sea fishing as well as clay pigeon shooting.
Don has worked with MDL since the start of 2020 as our Night Dockmaster here at Torquay. He joined us after successful careers in both the RAF and the Metropolitan Police service where he served as Royalty and Specialist Protection Officer. Don brings with him a wealth of boating experience and knowledge owning both a modern motor cruiser and a 1938 Dunkirk Little Ship and previous experience of being Commodore of a prestigious Blue flagged motor yacht club in London. Don is married and lives with his wife in the outskirts of Bristol. They have a daughter who is currently serving in the Royal Navy.
Since the age of 8, James has always been involved in the boating scene and thus brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team at Torquay Marina. Originally from North Devon, James relocated down to Torbay in 2010, and has since fallen in love with the beautiful surroundings that the bay has to offer. He spent 7 years in the motor industry selling high end vehicles up until March 2017 where he has since settled into his career within the marina industry.
John has worked at Torquay Marina for the last 10 years starting off as a Dockmaster working his way up to the Marina Supervisor. John oversees the Health and Safety and keeping our records up to date. John has 3 children, twin girls and a son. He served in the Army with the Royal Engineers, likes Formula One and "for his sins" is a devoted Arsenal FC fan.
Kelvin has worked for MDL as a Dockmaster since January 2011. Kelvin is ex Fire Service, Harbour Patrol, and also worked in the motor trade.
Kerrie has worked at Torquay Marina since 2005, joining as a Receptionist and now working as a part time Office Administrator. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two boys. Summer days at the beach and having fun on their family boat is her favourite time of the year.
Sarah is our longest serving member of the Torquay team, as she started back in 1999 as Receptionist before becoming an Office Administrator. After having 2 children Sarah now works part time in the Marina office and likes to get involved with all the Marina parties and events. She also enjoys getting out on the pontoons when the sun is shining!
Simon Joined MDL in 1990 and worked at Brixham Marina until 2016 when he changed to Torquay Marina. Simon has one daughter and two grandchildren who live in Australia. He's married to Lorraine and together they enjoy various activities.
Tony has worked for Torquay Marina since 2015 as a Dockmaster and he lives with his partner Jane and their dog Hettie. Tony went to sea at the age of 18 in the Merchant Navy and has served on cable layers, oil tankers, ferries, dive boats and harbour tugs before relocating to Torquay and the Marina.
