Lauren has 30 years’ of experience working in the luxury hospitality sector. At the age of 15 she began her career at the five-star Royal Crescent Hotel in her hometown of Bath and made her way up to senior management. The award-winning Queensberry Hotel and Olive Tree Restaurant was her next role as General Manager for ten years. Lauren’s family relocated to the New Forest in 2015 where she ran New Park Manor Hotel and Spa followed by a spell at Cunard before joining RSYC. When not at the marina, Lauren is kept busy with her husband, two teenagers and two dogs!
Since the age of 8, James has always been involved in the boating scene and thus brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team. Originally from North Devon, he relocated to Torbay in 2010 after studying Business Management and Hospitality, where he then fell in love with the beautiful surroundings that the bay had to offer. He spent 7 years in the motor industry selling high-end vehicles where he has since settled into his career within the marina industry. After five and a half years at Torquay Marina, James relocated to Southampton and joined the MDL team at Ocean Village.
Boating runs through Ben's family so it was no surprise that after leaving school he went to Antibes and ended up working on two superyachts over a season. Ben then embarked on a deck cadetship in order to obtain his OOW (Officer Of the Watch) certificate. He finished his training and topped up his foundation degree in Marine Operations to a full degree by the name of BSc Maritime Management at Solent University. Ben also has experience in yacht chandlery and yacht brokerage as well and ship operations.
Flynn Joined MDL In March 2023. Previously working at John Lewis Southampton as a Sales Assistant in the Home Technology department, he is currently studying Marine Biology with Oceanography at the University of Southampton. In his free time Flynn plays Ice Hockey for the University's Team, The Southampton Spitfires.
Seasonal Marina Operative
Joanna joined Ocean Village in April 2023 and, being from the South of France, enjoys being in the sun and sailing. Joanna also worked on yachts as a stewardess around the Mediterranean and is currently studying Marine Biology at the University of Southampton.
Kim joined MDL in December 2022 after moving back to Southampton from Surrey. She has done administration for nearly 15 years in a verity of sectors and now looks after both Saxon Wharf and Ocean Village. In her free time, Kim enjoys reading and doing puzzles as well as caring for her pet tortoise and dog.
After 25 years working on superyachts it was time to make the move ashore and what better place than the prestigious Ocean Village, where Max can continue to enjoy what he loves: being by the sea and yachting industry. In his time working on superyachts, Max travelled the world and functioned in many different roles culminating as Master. Moving forward with what he has learnt, from the 5 star service experience and maritime background, he is now looking forward to applying this to his career with MDL Marinas.
Mike has worked at Ocean Village since 2010 and spends free time going to gigs with his son and watching Norwich City FC where he is a season ticket holder. Mike loves watching the sunset at Seatown Beach, Dorset, which he travels to in February every year and has done for the last seven years.
Seasonal Marina Operative
Rhys joined MDL in April 2023. He currently studies Engineering and Design and spends his free time cycling and climbing. When he's not outside by the water, Rhys enjoys watching films and tinkering with electronics.
Sean originally worked at Cobb's Quay Marina in Poole for six months before transferring to Ocean Village Marina in late 1997, where he's been ever since. Prior to being with MDL, Sean served in the British Army with 1st Battalion The Royal Hampshire Regiment.
