1. How do I renew my berth?

We recommend renewing your berth online — it’s quick, easy, and eco-friendly. If we have your email address, you’ll receive an invitation to renew and make your payment securely online. Otherwise, we’ll send your renewal documents via post, along with a pre-paid envelope to return your completed agreement. To switch to email renewal, simply update your preferences in your MyMDL account.

2. How do I review my renewal documents after I’ve renewed?

After renewing, you can view your documents anytime in your MyMDL account, where you can also update your profile, book services, check your Otium points balance, and explore where to spend them. Your login details are in your renewal email, or if you received your renewal by post, contact your home marina for assistance.


FREEDOM BERTHING

3. Am I still a Freedom Berthing customer?

After a comprehensive review of our offerings, we’ve evolved Freedom Berthing into our Platinum Package. While Freedom Berthing has not been available to new customers since September 2020, this transition allows us to streamline our product range and enhance your experience. With the Platinum Package, you’ll continue to enjoy many of the same benefits, including complimentary visitor berthing, along with exciting new rewards. 4. What’s changed in my package?

You now have access to our Otium Rewards points scheme, which offers even greater value. You can earn up to 15% back in points on fuel and up to 22% back on boatyard services. This means you not only enjoy long-term savings but also have the flexibility to use your accumulated points to pay for these services, as well as next year’s renewal and more. Additionally, you will benefit from complimentary visitor berthing across the UK, France, Spain, and Portugal.


BERTHING FEES

5. Why have berthing prices increased for 2025?

We regularly review our annual berthing prices and packages, ensuring that any changes are communicated to our customers well in advance of their renewal. Although inflation has stabilised, operational costs continue to rise — including utilities, maintenance, and insurance. As a result, our annual berthing fees for 2025 will see a modest increase. We have worked hard to keep the increase minimal, balancing the need to cover these rising costs while continuing to invest in our marinas to ensure you have the best possible experience.

6. What more am I getting for the increase?

We invest millions annually to ensure that our 18 UK marinas offer the best facilities both on and off the water. In 2024 alone, we committed over £17 million, and plan to invest £40 million over the next five years to improve your marina experience. Additionally, through Otium we’re adding more value, allowing you to use points towards your berth renewal and electricity payments, helping to reduce your bills. Plus, we partner with local tenants to bring you exclusive offers. Be sure to check the member benefits section of MyMDL regularly for the latest deals.


PAYMENT OPTIONS

7. Is there a difference between paying by Direct Debit or annually?

Yes! As an Otium member, you'll earn 5% of your berthing fee back in points. By paying upfront, you receive the full year’s Otium points at the start of your contract. Alternatively, with our 12-month Direct Debit option, you can spread the cost of your annual berthing fee over the year at no extra charge, with Otium points credited each month.*

8. Can I use Otium points to pay for my annual berthing renewal?

Yes! You can use your points if you’re paying in full, and you can also use them towards the upfront payment if you choose Direct Debit.

9. How do I make payment?

You can pay using Otium points, Direct Debit, debit or credit card, or bank transfer. We no longer accept cash or cheques for berthing fees. For a hassle-free renewal, we recommend renewing online via the link in your renewal email or by visiting MyMDL up to 12 weeks before your renewal date. You’ll need your email address and account number to log in—if you don’t know your account number, please contact your home marina team.

10. Are there any hidden charges with these packages?

11. What social events will you be running next season?

We’ve got some exciting events lined up, including our popular South Coast and Green Tech Boat Show, as well as a busy calendar of social events. Keep an eye on your marina’s Facebook page and our website for updates.

12. I want to change marinas – how can you help?

If you'd like to switch marinas, we’ll do everything we can to help move your boat to another MDL marina, subject to availability. Simply let us know, and we’ll transfer any remaining credit and adjust your berthing fee accordingly.
