Assistant Marina Manager – Cobb's Quay Marina, Poole

Situated in Poole, Cobb’s Quay is a busy and high-profile visitor destination. Assistant Marina Manager – Cobb's Quay Marina, Poole

The role will include but not limited to:

  • To ensure the smooth day to day running of all operations in the Marina; coordinating, allocating and monitoring the work and activities of the marina team to ensure that daily, weekly and monthly checks are carried out.
  • To ensure all administrative tasks are completed in line with operational processes.
  • Deliver operational process and systems in accordance with the quality management systems of the MDL Way.
  • Working with the management team to compile the staff rota to include optimum site cover at weekends and peak times and to conduct daily staff briefings.
  • To allocate berths to annual berth holders and visitors along with the assistance of the Dockmasters and Management team.
  • To instill in the team an ethos of flexible working hours driven by business demand.
  • To support the management, coaching and development of staff to monitor customer’s satisfaction while constantly improving the customer experience ensuring excellence in customer service at all times.
  • Know how to handle periods of change and lead a team through such periods, displaying motivating and encouraging behaviours.
  • To oversee routine maintenance; ensuring the marina remains safe, secure, clean, tidy and well landscaped at all times and to complete the required safety checks.
  • To ensure the highest levels of customer service and experience at all times.
  • To establish a good working relationship with staff, tenants and customers; which is based on trust and efficiency.
  • To ensure the Marina Manager is informed of any complaints or cause for concern.

The key requirements for this role are but not limited to:

  • Deliver operational process and systems in accordance with the quality management systems of the MDL Way. All laid down Marina Regulations and company procedures and policies are adhered to at all times.

Berth Sales Executive – The Yacht Club, Southampton

We are looking for an individual who is dynamic, passionate and motivated with the drive, energy and enthusiasm needed to overachieve sales targets while giving our customers a world class service. This vacancy would suit an individual who enjoys speaking to customers, is great at problem solving and is used to working in a pressurised environment.


Berth Sales Executive – The Yacht Club, Southampton

The successful individual will be used to being managed on their personal KPI’s. They will manage the sales pipeline for their area and will work closely with the Marina Managers and wider staff focusing on new business and supporting the renewals process. They will also need to help drive the marinas NPS score through improved customer service while improving commercial performance.

The prime tasks and responsibilities for this role are:

  • This is a sales role based at The Yacht Club in Southampton responsible for sales performance across a defined area.
  • This role is responsible for the areas annual berthing sales performance working with Marina Managers and the Operations team and targeting new annual berth holders from our competitors. Including other income lines such as storage, new boatyard enquires and possible commercial sales.
  • You will be expected to review and manage the sales funnel for your area, achieve sales volume and conversion KPI’s. You will be expected to brief the Marina Managers and their teams as required on the sales pipeline for their site.
  • You will be responsible for updating your productivity through the Atreemo (CRM) system ensuring all KPI reporting is accurate and up to date.
  • You will assist the marketing team, through the NPS scores seen for your area and help them to ensure prospecting communications relate to the sale of any of our core income lines.
  • You will support the Marina Managers who have ultimate responsibility for marina berth sales.
  • You will provide the Sales and Marketing Director with meaningful information about the marketplace including customer feedback and competitor analysis.
  • You are expected to actively follow the MDL sales process and complete any administration in line with the MDL Operations Manual.
  • You will be monitoring your own performance and actively engage with customers giving a world class service at all times.
  • You will work with other departments if required to support areas such as MDL Holiday Parks, Estates, and MDL Fitness.
  • You will ensure all legal, financial, competitor, HS&E and company policies are adhered to in your role.
  • Any other task or responsibility that is appropriate, in the opinion of the Company, to be included in the duties of the Berth Sales Executive.

Working Relationships

  • Working with the Sales & Marketing Director, Marina Managers, marina team, members and other MDL departments to achieve operational objectives, whilst complying with all company policies and procedures.
  • Potential Customers, Berth holders and Tenants.

Performance Criteria

  • Sales – You are responsible for your area’s sales performance. You are responsible (alongside the Marina Manager) for the marina’s adherence to the established sales process and the accuracy of key performance indicators shown below. Contacts Made – Internal and external prospecting calls/emails (30 per shift) Appointments – Marina tours booked per shift (virtual or in person) Berth Sales – average 1 per shift.
  • Customer Service – You will place all our customers at the centre of all our business practices ensuring you provide outstanding customer care at all points of contact.
  • Brand – To operate in accordance with MDL’s Brand pillars (Innovation, Pride and Experience) and principles (Warm and Friendly, Safe and Secure, Prompt and Efficient, Clean and Tidy).
  • Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance – To ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with the Company Health & Safety Policy and that all Risk Assessments, method statements and operating procedures are understood and adhered to.
  • QMS – Deliver sales and operational process and systems in accordance with the quality management systems as laid down in the Marina Regulations and company procedures and policies are adhered to always.
  • Direct Reports/Team – All dealings with team members are carried out professionally, politely, and respectfully.
  • Administration – To accurately and diligently manage the administration associated with your role.

Boatyard Co-Ordinator – Cobb's Quay Marina, Poole

Boatyard Co-Ordinator – Cobb's Quay Marina, Poole

The role will include but not limited to:

  • To be responsible for the administration function of the boatyard operation at Cobb’s Quay Marina; including taking all boatyard service bookings and raising all relevant invoices and credits notes raised where necessary for berth holders, visitors and commercial tenants in accordance with laid down procedures.Provide a meet and greet service to all members and visitors
  • To ensure all boatyard service bookings are administered in line with the relevant process and all bookings are correctly authorised in line with lifting policy.
  • To issue storage ashore and electricity invoices and update all boatyard records.
  • To keep the Marina Manager informed of lifting, and storage ashore statistics at all times; to include details of current availability to use as sales aids for the marina team.
  • To ensure payments are taking at the time of booking or invoices raised as appropriate and in accordance with the Companies strict debt policy.
  • To ensure all relevant weekly KPI, month and year end returns are completed as required.
  • To assist the Marina Manager with the auditing of all boat measuring within the marina and to maintain up to date records in accordance with the companies measuring policy.
  • To operate a strict debt control policy in accordance with company procedure and liaise frequently with the Marina Manager on outstanding accounts. To produce up to date debt information and carry out debt chasing as required.
  • To ensure that all customer queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently and to keep the Marina Manager informed of their progress at all times.
  • To ensure the office telephone is answered in a timely manner, customers are greeted and assistance with serving in the main office is maintained ensuring the highest standard of customer service at all times.
  • To ensure that the Marina Manager is aware of any concerns you may have within your scope of responsibility.
  • To ensure all legal, HSE and company policies including financial are being adhered to.

The key requirements for this role are but not limited to:

Night Marina Gatehouse Operative – Hamble Point Marina, Hamble

This is a full-time position working up to 48 hours each week on a 4 on 4 off rota pattern, 7pm to 7am, supporting the marina operations activities. The successful applicant will be required to attend various training in the initial period of employment as part of a full induction process.

The role will include but not limited to:

  • Maintain a visible presence with regular patrolling of the site, recording and/or reporting any problems or issues to the relevant persons or services.
  • To carry out checks to ensure the safety and security of vessels, buildings, vehicles and people within the marina site boundaries.
  • To provide a meet and greet service to visitors; directing traffic onto the site and dealing with initial site enquiries, recording all visitor details and proactively encourage and monitor contractor registration.
  • Organise the berthing of boats to yield maximum occupancy, ensuring that all payments for services are received in accordance with the company’s finance policy.
  • Complete all daily, weekly and monthly assigned tasks as required.
  • To carry out routine maintenance; ensuring the marina remains safe, secure, clean, tidy and well landscaped at all times and to complete the required safety checks.
  • Ensure familiarity with emergency procedures and deal effectively with any emergency situation.
  • Ensure a quality, professional service is provided in all contact with customers.

  • To act as a receptionist for Penton Hook and its tenants including sorting and distributing incoming and out-going mail.
  • To ensure the office telephone is answered in a timely manner, customers are greeted and assistance with serving in the main office is maintained ensuring the highest standard of customer service at all times.
  • To provide support to the Administration team with ensuring a strict debt control policy is in operation.
  • To ensure that all customer queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently and to keep the Administrator informed of their progress at all times.
  • To provide a concierge service to customers to include taxi, restaurant, and Freedom Berthing bookings, and to arrange Dock Master trolley assistance when necessary.

  • To ensure that the Administrator is aware of any concerns you may have within your scope of responsibility.
  • To ensure all legal, HSE and company policies inc. financial are being adhered to.

Various hours of work and shifts available (casual and fixed working patterns) including weekends and bank holidays to suit almost every applicant’s needs.


Summer Team Members

We are looking to engage several Summer Team Members across all our regions to join our friendly team providing additional support during our busiest operating months. As a Summer Team Member, you will be delivering exceptional customer service to all our berth holders, tenants, and visitors. This role is mostly based outdoors, and you will assist our Marina Managers and Operatives with their day to day duties.

The role will include but not limited to:

  • Welcome visitors by road and boat, greeting them with high standards of service
  • Walk the marina pontoons and surrounding areas, assisting customers where needed
  • Dealing with customer queries
  • Answering the office telephone, greeting customers and assisting with serving in the marina office
  • Check car parks and drop off points ensuring everything is clean, signage is visible, and trolleys are available
  • Provide a trolley service with assistance to and from vessel when requested
  • Prepare the marina each day ensuring leaflet carousels are stocked
  • To assist with serving fuel when required
