Marina Manager – Penton Hook Marina, Surrey

We now have a vacancy for a Marina Manager for Penton Hook Marina in Surrey. This vacancy would suit an experienced Marina Manager or Operations Manager from a leisure operation. The successful individual will work with the existing marina team overseeing day-to-day marina operations and will be accountable for the performance of the operation in all areas.


Marina Manager – Penton Hook Marina, Surrey

The prime tasks and responsibilities for this role are:

  • To be responsible for day to day operations; to ensure the effective and efficient running of site operations ensuring excellence in customer service and experience at all times.
  • To be accountable for the financial performance of your business(s) and run your marinas effectively, correctly and profitably.
  • In conjunction with the site management team, ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly checks are carried out, along with all routine maintenance to ensure the sites remains safe, secure, clean, tidy and well landscaped at all times.
  • To ensure the day-to-day operation and overall image of the sites reflects the Company’s position as market leader.
  • To ensure all legal, HSE and company policies including financial polices are being adhered to.
  • To lead and oversee and be accountable for all marina and boatyard administration to ensure all records are maintained accurately in order to yield maximum revenue; assisting with marina and boatyard administration where necessary. To ensure payment is received for all services under the guidelines laid down.
  • To build and develop an empowered and motivated staff structure that functions flexibly, whilst providing the best in customer experience and site cover.
  • To instil an ethos of flexible working hours / patterns driven by business demand. To ensure that shifts are managed in such a way that maximum site staff are on site at peak times to include weekends and bank holidays.
  • To hold weekly staff meetings and undertake appraisals and on-going performance monitoring and management where necessary.
  • To recruit staff as required ensuing the business is employing customer focused, flexible, smart and positive individuals, while also being responsible for disciplinary matters should the need arise.
  • To coach staff to monitor customer’s satisfaction while constantly improving the customer experience ensuring excellence in customer service at all times.
  • To be responsible for social media and assist with creating regular newsletters.
  • To assist with projects that identify and develop new revenue growth streams and best fit products driven by local market conditions.
  • To formulate site budgets and pricing policy. To accurately and weekly forecast site activity and create offers to drive activity to meet your revenue targets.
  • To represent the best interests of Marina Developments at all levels whilst developing the business to make best financial use of the assets.
  • To liaise with central services whilst ensuring effective communication at all levels ensuring that reporting deadlines are maintained and that the various departments are kept informed of any reportable/relevant issues at your site.
  • To represent the company’s interest with external suppliers or organisations to the best possible advantage.

Working Relationships:

  • To liaise at all levels with customers, staff, central services and external suppliers/organisations.
  • To delegate as necessary in order to fulfil the above aims and objectives.

Performance Criteria:

  • To manage the business for which you are responsible effectively, correctly and profitably.
  • All laid down procedures are adhered to and assigned tasks are completed accurately and diligently at the required times.
  • To manage site staff to ensure they are providing the best possible customer experience.
  • Customer requests and problems are acted upon immediately or arrangements made for their resolution.
  • A proactive approach to customer service and any issues arising is adopted along with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
  • To operate in accordance with Health and Safety legislation, HSE guidance and legal, environmental and other Government legislation.
  • To build and develop a professional close working relationship with senior management, central services and staff at your facility. To include the holding of regular staff meetings and undertaking annual appraisals.

Person Specification:

  • An experienced manager who has led large teams.
  • To have previously operated in the leisure or marine leisure industry.
  • A positive and personable leader that can prove they have successfully coached other team members and developed them as individuals.
  • Be results orientated and keen to make improvements to already established businesses.
  • To have operated businesses with a turnover in excess of £3m.
  • Have a proven track record of sales growth in either a retail or B to B environment.
  • To be an effective communicator particularly within their own team showing leadership skills and strong staff management as required.
  • Able to provide first class customer service.

Marina Operative – Woolverstone Marina and Lodge Park, Suffolk

To help us deliver exceptional service we are seeking to recruit a Marina Operative to assist with marina and lodge park operations at Woolverstone Marina and Lodge Park in Ipswich. You will be passionate about providing the best possible levels of customer service and will put the safety and the needs of the customer first every time. You will deliver an outstanding customer experience, exceeding expectations daily.


Marina Operative – Woolverstone Marina and Lodge Park, Suffolk

This is a full-time position working up to 42 hours each week on a 4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern supporting the marina and lodge park operations activities. The successful applicant will be required to attend various training in the initial period of employment as part of a full induction process.

The role will include but not limited to:

  • Provide a meet and greet service to all members and visitors.
  • Overseeing the berthing allocations of vessels.
  • To carry out general maintenance tasks as required.
  • Ensuring the telephone is answered in the correct and timely manner.
  • To ensure all customer enquiries are dealt with both promptly and efficiently.
  • Assisting in actively marketing and promoting the marina and associated services.
  • Maintaining the security of the site.
  • Carry out all duties in line with Company policies, particularly focused on compliance with H&S and Customer Service standards.

The key requirements for this role are but not limited to:

  • Enthusiastic and friendly with a flexible and positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment (in a leisure/marina/hospitality industry an advantage).
  • General maintenance skills (not essential but an advantage).
  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision.
  • Sound awareness of basic health and safety in the workplace.
  • Confident use of IT systems.
  • A practical, resourceful and common-sense approach.
  • Good practical boating skills/qualifications (not essential but an advantage).
  • Competent swimmer (essential).
  • Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent.

Night Marina Operative – Cobb's Quay Marina, Poole

Night Marina Operative – Cobb's Quay Marina, Poole

This is a full-time position working 12 hour night shifts each week on a 4 on 4 off rota pattern supporting the marina operations activities. The successful applicant will be required to attend various training in the initial period of employment as part of a full induction process.

The role will include but not limited to:

  • Maintain a visible presence with regular patrolling of the site, recording and/or reporting any problems or issues to the relevant persons or services.
  • To carry out checks to ensure the safety and security of vessels, buildings, vehicles and people within the marina site boundaries.
  • To provide a meet and greet service to visitors; directing traffic onto the site and dealing with initial site enquiries, recording all visitor details and proactively encourage and monitor contractor registration.
  • Organise the berthing of boats to yield maximum occupancy, ensuring that all payments for services are received in accordance with the company’s finance policy.
  • Complete all daily, weekly and monthly assigned tasks as required.
  • To carry out routine maintenance; ensuring the marina remains safe, secure, clean, tidy and well landscaped at all times and to complete the required safety checks.
  • Ensure familiarity with emergency procedures and deal effectively with any emergency situation.
  • Ensure a quality, professional service is provided in all contact with customers.

Receptionist (FTC) – Penton Hook Marina, Surrey

Situated in Chertsey, Penton Hook Marina is a busy and high-profile visitor destination. We aim to deliver the highest level of service and experience for our visitors and customers, demanding the very best from ourselves whilst working as a team every day. To help us deliver exceptional service we are seeking to recruit a Receptionist on a 6 month fixed term contract to assist with marina operations.


Receptionist (FTC) – Penton Hook Marina, Surrey

The role will include but not limited to:

  • To act as a receptionist for Penton Hook and its tenants including sorting and distributing incoming and out-going mail.
  • To ensure the office telephone is answered in a timely manner, customers are greeted and assistance with serving in the main office is maintained ensuring the highest standard of customer service at all times.
  • To provide support to the Administration team with ensuring a strict debt control policy is in operation.
  • To ensure that all customer queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently and to keep the Administrator informed of their progress at all times.
  • To provide a concierge service to customers to include taxi, restaurant, and Freedom Berthing bookings, and to arrange Dock Master trolley assistance when necessary.
  • Deliver operational process and systems in accordance with the quality management systems of the MDL Way.
  • To ensure that the Administrator is aware of any concerns you may have within your scope of responsibility.
  • To ensure all legal, HSE and company policies inc. financial are being adhered to.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties required by the management team.

Summer Team Members

Are you 17 or over and looking for summer work this year whilst still enjoying being outdoors? MDL Marinas are recruiting Summer Team Members for work between April and September 2025 (inclusive). Various hours of work and shifts available (casual and fixed working patterns) including weekends and bank holidays to suit almost every applicant’s needs.


Summer Team Members

We are looking to engage several Summer Team Members across all our regions to join our friendly team providing additional support during our busiest operating months. As a Summer Team Member, you will be delivering exceptional customer service to all our berth holders, tenants, and visitors. This role is mostly based outdoors, and you will assist our Marina Managers and Operatives with their day to day duties.

The role will include but not limited to:

  • Welcome visitors by road and boat, greeting them with high standards of service
  • Walk the marina pontoons and surrounding areas, assisting customers where needed
  • Dealing with customer queries
  • Answering the office telephone, greeting customers and assisting with serving in the marina office
  • Check car parks and drop off points ensuring everything is clean, signage is visible, and trolleys are available
  • Provide a trolley service with assistance to and from vessel when requested
  • Prepare the marina each day ensuring leaflet carousels are stocked
  • To assist with serving fuel when required
