MDL offer unparalleled cruising opportunities for our Berth Holders. “Passeport Escales” is a completely unique package allowing customers to gain access to free visitor nights at over 140 European marinas – either by redeeming Otium points or within the berthing fee.
This allows our members the opportunity to visit marinas in France, Spain and Portugal, opening up the largest cruising network offered by any European marina operator.
Berth Holders are entitled to up to 5 free visitor nights at each of the participating marinas. Only two consecutive free nights can be claimed, although you can stay longer at the normal overnight visitor rate. Members may return to the same marina following a night away to continue their free entitlement.
- Those customers visiting France, Spain or Portugal and using Passeport Escales for the first time will need to notify their home marina to activate their account.
- All berthing cards will need reactivating if you intend to use them for the 2022/23 season. You DO NOT need to order a new card or reference number as both will continue from the previous year.

Passeport Escales is a free visitor berthing scheme in France which is run by private French marina operator, Sagemor, who started the programme over 20 years ago. Other French, Spanish and Portuguese marina operators have now joined the scheme to increase the network even further.
The scheme is available to MDL Berth Holders up until 31 March 2024 (the end of the berthing season).
There are currently 160 Marinas in the scheme and it’s continually growing - please refer to www.passeportescales.com for the current list of participating marinas.
The French, Spanish (with the exception of Sant Carles Marina) and Portuguese marinas in the scheme are not operated by MDL and therefore different entitlements apply.

Based on a 10m boat at February 2024 exchange rate, the average cost is £32 excluding taxes.
The only condition of the scheme is members must ‘check out' on leaving their home marina or other MDL marina if visiting another site.
The entitlement is activated when members ‘check out’ of their home or MDL visitor berth. Upon arrival, the marina is aware of the entitlement via a sophisticated system and is committed to finding a berth for visitors.
