Senior Management

Mike Glanville

Mike Glanville

Managing Director

Mike has over 20 years’ experience in the marina industry and has worked for three of the UK’s largest Marina Operators. Mike's role is to continue to ensure MDL provides a high-quality customer experience, while developing the company’s products and services for the longer term. Mike’s previous roles involved managing several of MDL’s key marinas and latterly as Operations Director giving him a unique insight into MDL’s future opportunities and customer needs.

Richard Broadribb

Richard Broadribb

Property Director

Richard is a Chartered Surveyor with nearly 30 years’ experience gained in the leisure sector working with Grand Metropolitan plc, Forte Hotels, Travelodge and latterly Ei Group plc, where he held the position of Commercial Property Director. His previous roles have included leading and developing significant acquisition, disposal and development programmes which encompassed leisure, retail and residential properties. He joined the MDL board as Property Director in 2017 and leads the Group’s Estates Division; responsible for extracting best value from its assets and defining the Group’s property strategy.

Tim Mayer

Sales and Marketing Director

Tim has over 20 years' sales and marketing experience in the competitive retail, health and leisure markets. Tim is an award winning sales manager having industry recognition in the fitness industry for his transformation of the customer journey process and sales transition from the offline to the online world. Tim’s role is to devise and implement strategic procedures and campaigns on both the national and local level, he is responsible for the group sales strategy and product development Tim identifies commercial opportunities ensuring they provide a high-quality customer experience and joined MDL in 2019.

Catherine Fleming

Catherine Fleming

Company Secretary

Cathy joined Yattendon Group in 2012 when she was appointed Company Secretary of Group, Iliffe Print and Yattendon Estates. She became Company Secretary of MDL in 2015. Cathy particularly enjoys the variety of questions and issues that come up at MDL, there is never a dull moment and it certainly keeps her on her toes. For Yattendon, she also looks after pensions, energy procurement, insurances, legal matters and whatever else happens to be going on.

Kerry Marriott

Kerry Marriott

Head of Operations

Kerry is MDL's Head of Operations and has previously managed several marinas across the group. She has over 21 year's experience in the marina industry and her role is focused on safety, quality and service. She and her team strive to deliver exceptional service to MDL's customers and ensure they enjoy the very best experience every time they visit one of our marinas or holiday parks. She represents MDL on The Yacht Harbour Association's Management Council and is keen to help the industry develop and grow.

Brendan Joyce

Brendan Joyce

Sales Team

Originally from Glasgow, Brendan joined the Navy young and proceeded to travel the world working as an engineer aboard a variety of ships and yachts. He settled in the British Virgin Islands for over 20 years where he ran a popular, small marina. Returning to the UK in 2019, he joined the MDL sales team in 2020 where he enjoys helping people get the most out of their boating experience.

Charlotte Orris-Bird

Sales Team

Charlotte started her journey in sales in the Telecoms Industry covering sales, project management, new business and customer service. Coming from a boating family she decided she would like to pursue a career in the marine industry and therefore moved from the Cotswold’s to Poole. Her MDL adventure began at Cobb’s Quay Marina as a Receptionist and Admin Assistant, before moving across to a Marina Operative. Charlotte joined the Sales Team as the first member back in October 2020 and currently looks after the Hamble, Southampton and Chichester marinas.

Maxine Lane

Maxine Lane

Senior Marketing Manager

With over 20 years at MDL and a background in market research, Maxine has extensive experience in delivering marketing campaigns that focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience. Her approach is based on up-to-the-minute market and industry data, backed up by real-life experience gained from living in a family of passionate boaters. She now delivers highly effective marketing campaigns across the marketing mix for both B2C and B2B audiences. Maxine is a member of the British Marine’s Market Research and Statistics Committee and holds a CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Marketing.

Michael Cooper

Sales Team

Michael joined MDL in 2020 after returning from a 12-month sabbatical, cruising the East Coast of America, The Bahamas and Atlantic Ocean. Prior to that he worked for 4 years in the UK as a yacht broker for one of Europe’s largest International yacht brokerages. Michael also holds a commercially endorsed Offshore Yachtmaster Certificate, is a boat owner and has been an MDL berth holder in Hamble since 2009. He has a huge knowledge and understanding of customer’s needs and expectations, currently looking after our Southampton and Hamble marinas.

Richard Sharp

Richard Sharp

Digital Marketing Manager

Richard has been with MDL since 2007, originally in a marketing support role before progressing to Marketing Executive and now Digital Marketing Manager. He looks after our digital comms, social media and websites, alongside ongoing digital projects. He works closely with the marina teams and other departments to continuously improve our online experience. Outside of work, Richard has a young family that keeps him busy, enjoys playing golf and supports Southampton FC.

Shane Sunkel

Shane Sunkel

Sales Team

Shane grew up in Durban, South Africa before moving to the UK in the late Nineties. He has been in sales for nearly 35 years, predominately in the motor trade from Sales executive all the way up to Dealer Principle. As Shane grew up living a few metres the ocean, and his family were always into boats and water activities, his passion has always boats and the water. He has been with MDL since April 2021, and currently look after Thames & East Coast areas for the company, which he thoroughly loves!

Finance

Jane Whitcher

Jane Whitcher

Payroll & Finance Administrator

Jane has been with MDL since 2012 and has a total 30+ years in the Marine Industry, having previously worked for Barclays Marine Finance and and spent several years working onboard the QE2. Her position with MDL over since 2015 has been to administer the MDL Payroll and provide employee support for our Lloyds Commercial Online Banking facility. This continues to be a stimulating role as no two months are the same and the payday deadline always has to be met!

Estates

Simon Welch

Simon Welch

Head of Estates

A Chartered Surveyor with 20 years property experience in all sectors, Simon has worked in both private practice and held client-side Asset Management positions for UK-wide property funds with M&G Real Estate and CLS Holdings PLC. Simon joined MDL in 2016 and as Head of Estates he oversees the Estates Team in order to maximise property income for all 19 UK locations in conjunction with MDL marina operations.

Graham Nash

Graham Nash

Estate Manager

In his fourth decade of working in commercial property, Graham's previous roles have been Development Manager and Consultant or Leasing agent of many major Out-of-Town and City Centre developments in the UK, Middle East and Europe. In this time, Graham has advised on Airport terminal development, railway stations and motorway service areas, so marinas completes the transport infrastructure. He enjoys his role with MDL looking after estate matters across 10 marinas and meeting with tenants and colleagues in the various sites.

Credit Controller

Marian has worked as Credit Manager and Credit Controller with over 20 years experience. She looks after our Commercial Tenants across the UK Marinas and assists the Marinas with their customers at site.

Technical Services

Alex Beere

Alex Beere

Director of Technical Services

Alex provides overall direction to MDL’s infrastructure and development project work and leads the technical & consulting team. A Chartered Civil Engineer with 25 years’ experience, Alex now heads up MDL’s consultancy and projects division covering marina and property based infrastructure projects. In the 17 years that Alex has been with MDL, he has completed countless marina design and construction projects. Alex has also been a keen sailor for over 20 years and is able to bring to bear his perspective as a marina customer to his projects.

Dan Chamberlain

Dan Chamberlain

Marina Development Advisor

Dan has over 20 years of experience within the marina and leisure industries, working internationally and in the UK. He works in our Technical Services Team managing various infrastructure and development projects as well as providing our external consultancy services. When Dan isn't working he enjoys sailing, paddle boarding, and keeping fit.
