Torquay Marina Winter News

We’d like to start off by saying a massive thank you to all our berth holders for berthing with us this season, and what an amazing season it’s been so far! As we enter the winter period, we’re taking the opportunity to reflect upon some of our highlights.

We started the year with the country battling some ferocious winds and challenging sea conditions during Storms Dudley and Eunice. As we always do, the team worked tirelessly day and night and did their very best to keep your pride and joy safe. We’re proud of the team for doing a sterling job – we hope you are too.

When we sailed into April, there was plenty of Easter Treats available at the Marina office. We also welcomed some new members to the team who, along with our existing staff, helped continue to provide the great service we offer at Torquay Marina. Also in April, we hosted our new season party held at the Royal Torbay Yacht Club, which included a delicious three course dinner.

May soon arrived and the team continued maintaining the site by creating some fantastic floral displays. They were so impressive that the team was awarded runner up in the MDL in Bloom awards for ‘Best Overall Site’ and took first place for ‘Best Hanging Baskets’. A huge well done to the team for their amazing efforts.

As we entered June, the Country celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee and Torquay Marina certainly didn’t disappoint. Your enthusiasm to get involved and make the day special was second to none. The marina, the boats and you, our customers, looked great. There were so many great outfits and some fantastically dressed boats. Our local ‘Triple 777’ hosted a Gin Bar, which seemed to go down very well indeed.

We hit the season running with a full marina and a welcomed return of the sun. This was a perfect opportunity to host our famous Trolley of Treats, which we know you all love. We offered beers, wines, ciders and soft drinks – some of you even came back for seconds.

After a successful season, the weather started to turn, and the ghosts soon appeared at Torquay Marina. We held a Virtual Pumpkin Carving Competition where we had plenty of entries and three lucky winners won a special Halloween Hamper of goodies. You really are a creative bunch.

Now, with the winter fast approaching, we’ll continue to invest into the marina and start preparations for next year. As always, just pop in and speak with us or pick up the phone if you need any assistance over the winter period.
