Originally built by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Mercury is situated in a sheltered wooded site where the shallow waters of Badnam Creek join the River Hamble. Just a 20-minute walk from Hamble village, the marina offers berthing for 360 boats and enjoys deep water at all states of tide. Among its excellent facilities are a well-stocked chandlery as well as a bar and restaurant with waterfront views.
It is a scenic, peaceful spot, which still provides easy access to Southampton Water and the Solent. There are plenty of other tranquil anchorages to visit, such as Newtown Creek on the Isle of Wight or the pretty Beaulieu River.
Further afield is Poole Harbour and to the east lie Portsmouth and the sheltered waters of Chichester Harbour.
There's always activity on the River Hamble, with fleets of racers out every weekend during the summer. Throughout autumn, many hardy sailors participate in the Hamble Winter Series. Mercury Yacht Harbour also provides an ideal base from which to visit some of our other marinas in the Southampton area. Nearby Ocean Village Marina boasts two cinemas along with restaurants and bars; a wide range of marine services are available at Shamrock Quay and Hamble Point Marina.
As well as providing first-class berthing and marina services, Mercury Yacht Harbour has a boatyard within it, perfect for when you need to carry out maintenance work or repairs on your boat. Besides winter storage ashore for over 100 boats, there is a 20 ton travel hoist and boat mover. All lifting at the yard is carried out by MDL's professional, highly qualified team.
There are also a number of companies both on site and locally offering a wide variety of specialist services ranging from sail makers to engineers.
