Visit White Dot Sailing and the yacht Constance at berth 30 in the marina to see a real-world example of Bluewater preparation. Built in 1979 and designed by Ron Holland, Constance is a rare “R” variant hull—one of only five ever made. After 15 years of Mediterranean cruising, her owner has entrusted White Dot Sailing to assess her condition and prepare her for an ambitious three-year circumnavigation.
Following a comprehensive readiness assessment, a detailed plan was developed to bring the yacht up to Bluewater standards and reduce risks during long-distance sailing. The owner intends to join the ARC+ 2026 rally to Grenada, cruise the Caribbean over Christmas, then transit the Panama Canal and enter the Pacific in early 2027. The voyage will continue across the Pacific, Indian, and South Atlantic oceans over the course of three years.
Extensive upgrades and maintenance have already been completed, including new rigging, structural work on the keel, rudder, and hull, window and skin fitting replacements, engine reconditioning, and the installation of windvane steering and a hydrogenerator. Additional improvements include new sails, upgraded autopilot and safety systems, and routine servicing across all onboard systems. Visitors are welcome aboard to explore the project, discuss Bluewater preparation, and learn more about the services White Dot Sailing offers, from maintenance planning to logistics and coaching.
