Freedom Boat Club (FBC) UK offers a hassle-free boating experience, allowing members to enjoy the water without the responsibilities of boat ownership. Established in 1989 in Sarasota, Florida, FBC has expanded globally, including multiple locations across the United Kingdom. Members benefit from unlimited boating, comprehensive training, and access to a diverse fleet of boats, all maintained by the club. The club's model emphasises convenience, with boats ready for use upon reservation, eliminating concerns about maintenance, storage, or cleaning.
In the UK, FBC has strategically positioned its clubs in prime boating locations. These include Chertsey on the River Thames, Hythe Marina Village and Swanwick in the Solent region, Loch Lomond in Scotland, Torquay on the English Riviera, Windermere in the Lake District, and Portsmouth, the first UK location established in April 2021 . Each location offers unique boating experiences, from serene river cruises to coastal adventures, catering to both novice and experienced boaters.
Membership with FBC UK provides not only access to local waters but also the opportunity to boat internationally. Members can enjoy boating at over 400 locations worldwide, including clubs in France, Spain, Denmark, the USA, Canada, and Australia. The recent expansion to Chertsey, announced in May 2024, underscores FBC's commitment to growing its UK presence. Located at Bates Wharf Marina, this new club offers direct access to the Thames River and is part of the Thames-Solent Hub, providing members with unlimited access to three regional locations. Operated by marine veteran Richard Bates, the Chertsey club aims to enhance the local boating community through FBC's shared access model. This expansion reflects FBC's strategic vision to establish a presence in top boating destinations worldwide.
