Summer Berthing Offer with MDL Marinas

Posted: 6th July 2012

Boat owners can spend a great value summer on the south coast this year with the return of MDL’s exclusive summer berthing package.

For just £499 including VAT, owners can berth for the whole of July and August at any of six MDL marinas in Poole, Southampton and on the River Hamble, allowing you to spend more time on board and less on towing, launching and travel. This fantastic package also includes free trailer storage and free car parking at your marina of choice.*

MDL’s south coast marinas provide direct access to superb and varied cruising in the height of the summer season. Take a trip along the Solent, up the Beaulieu River to the picturesque Buckler’s Hard, or along the Dorset coastline with its miles of stunning sandy beaches. Those keen to have a great view of this summer’s sporting action should head along the coast to Weymouth for an up-close view of Olympic sailing events.

Boat owners sailing along the Solent to the east can take a trip to the historic naval port of Portsmouth and along to Hayling Island, or venture further afield to explore the Isle of Wight.

*Terms and conditions apply, see http://www.mdlmarinas.co.uk/summer-afloat for further details.

All 7 of the P&O Cruises Fleet Together in Southampton

Posted: 29th June 2012

P&O's story began in 1837 when the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company was awarded the British Government contract for a weekly mail service to the Iberian Peninsula. In celebration of this exciting anniversary, all seven ships of the P&O Cruises fleet will be together in their home port of Southampton on the same day, 3rd July 2012.

This will be a first in the history of the company and we are delighted that Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal, is joining us for what promises to be a grand event. The ships with their gleaming white hulls and signature "buff" funnels will be alongside at seven different points in the port of Southampton.

Leaving their berths on this historic day, the ship's passengers and crew will enjoy a champagne deck party as the flutterfetti flies; the marching band plays and the ships sail past in a procession from Southampton Water out into the Solent, accompanied by a display by the famous RAF Red Arrows aerobatic team. Out in the open water the ships will meet again, saluting one another before they sail onwards to their various exciting destinations.
