Mercury and Northney Awarded Highest Marina Accolade

Posted: 23rd August 2016

MDL Marinas, Europe’s largest marina operator, is delighted to announce Mercury Yacht Harbour in Southampton and Northney Marina in Hayling Island have both been awarded the prestigious Five Gold Anchors by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA).

The Gold Anchor awards rate the service, quality and overall standards of a marina’s offering and are deemed as the being the highest award honour in the marine industry. Both Mercury Yacht Harbour and Northney Marina received the best possible accolade following a rigorous testing and audit process that rates marinas similarly to the star system used for hotels.

Mercury Yacht Harbour achieved an impressive 92% overall, and Northney Marina was awarded 89%, both receiving a near-perfect nine points out of a possible ten for the marina’s mystery shop. Northney Marina was commended for its wide range of boating services and facilities to a high standard, in a “very pleasant, clean, sheltered and great location and surroundings.” The assessor also honoured the MDL team commenting: “there is a strong emphasis on customer service and training, and the marina is very well staffed.”

Mercury Yacht Harbour was also praised for its well-maintained facilities and the benefits and social activities provided for berth holders, with the assessor concluding that the “marina is an active marina, with a range of social activities. Customers also benefit from MDL’s Freedom Berthing, super-fast Wi-FI and 24/7 marina support.” The team at Mercury Yacht harbour were also celebrated for their “helpfulness and friendliness and breadth of knowledge.”

Adrien Burnand, Head of Marketing at MDL Marinas, said: “We are delighted to have another two of our marinas recognised for offering the highest marina standards in the industry again. These awards are a real testament to the hard work put in by the team at the marina, as well as clearly demonstrating the quality of the facilities and services on offer to our valued berth holders.”

The scheme has been designed by The Yacht Harbour Association to help boat owners make an informed decision on where to berth.

Bursledon Regatta 2016

From 27th August 2016 until 28th August 2016

The Regatta is organised and run by a committee of local people still representing the three villages of Swanwick, Bursledon and Warsash, and relies on the generous support given by well wishers to finance the not inconsiderable expenses involved. The unique family atmosphere of the Regatta has been gently nurtured over the years and we hope you enjoy the experience and will help us perpetuate one of the few traditional village Regattas remaining. This year's theme is Rio inspired, with a water carnival, dinghy, yacht and gig racing, plus evening entertainment.
