Port Hamble Marina was delighted to host a Family Fun Day event held by Sail 4 Cancer on Wednesday 30th July, which was attended by a very special guest.
Sir Ben Ainslie, a patron of the charity, attended the event and met dozens of families at the marina before setting sail for a day out on the water. Guests were thrilled to meet the Olympic yachtsman in person and talk to him about his work for the charity and his recent adventures.
The day’s activities saw the group take part in a treasure hunt around the Solent, allowing the families to enjoy the beautiful weather as they searched for clues. The event finished with a family buffet in the sun, giving families the chance to relax and enjoy some quality fun time together.
Port Hamble Marina recently welcomed another sailing legend to the marina – on Thursday 24th July, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston attended a special event to crown Sail 4 Cancer as the 2014 Haven Academy Award Winner. Sir Robin, who is Chairman of the Haven Academy, presented Sail 4 Cancer with a £5,000 cheque for its good causes.
Set up in 2001 by a group of keen sailors who'd all lost friends or family to cancer, Sail 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of water based respite days and holidays for families affected by cancer. These days out give families the opportunity to relax together, have fun out on the water.
Sail 4 Cancer’s Family Fun Days are organised by Britannia Corporate Events, who provide full event management and logistics support.
