Dressmakers and quilters in the Southampton area will be delighted to discover the newest business tenant at MDL Marinas’ Hythe Marina Village, New Forest Fabrics. Providing a beautiful selection of designer fabrics and haberdashery, the new shop is a brand new business venture for owner, Sue Pepper, and brings a unique retail offering to the marina.
Originally an online business, Sue founded New Forest Fabrics to fill a gap in the local market for quality designer fabrics suitable for the discerning quilter, dressmaker or home decor enthusiast. The website generated huge interest and led Sue to open the new shop to keep up with demand. Fabric collections in store include designs by Lewis & Irene, Free Spirit, Art Gallery and Michael Miller. Sue also hosts regular sewing and quilting classes at the shop for newcomers and more advanced quilters and dressmakers.
Sue Pepper, Owner of New Forest Fabrics, said: “I’m very excited to have opened New Forest Fabrics at Hythe Marina Village. The number of people who are choosing to make their own clothes and home furnishings is increasing, with shows like the Great British Sewing Bee encouraging people to sew their own original items that are a little bit different. Hythe Marina Village is the perfect place for New Forest Fabrics, with its idyllic surroundings and central location. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new customers and helping them achieve their sewing and quilting ambitions.”
Adrian Gilson, Manager of MDL's Hythe Marina Village, said: “We are delighted to welcome New Forest Fabrics. The marina is a thriving hub, with a range of different businesses providing a variety of services and we believe it has a lot to offer, with its excellent transport links and pleasant marine surroundings. We wish Sue continued success with her business venture.”
Hythe Marina Village is one of 19 UK marinas and boatyards owned and operated by MDL. It offers 206 berths, together with waterside homes, shops, restaurants, bars and boutique hotels, as well as a regular ferry service from Hythe right into the centre of Southampton.
