Chatham Maritime Marina will be able to offer even greater space for berth holders, with the official opening of 60 new marina berths. The new pontoons, which represent a significant investment in the Kent marina, were officially opened by the Mayor of Medway, Councillor Mrs Josie Iles.
The construction work forms part of the Chatham Maritime Project, with MDL Marinas – Europe’s largest marina operator - working in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency and Chatham Maritime Trust as part of extensive regeneration works in the area. Cllr Mrs Iles and other invited guests were treated to a tour of the marina by boat, learning more about the important maritime history of the area, before stepping onto the new pontoons for the official opening ceremony.
Dean Smith, Marketing Director at MDL Marinas, commented: “We are committed to investing in our marinas, and these new berths will allow even more boat owners access to both the beautiful cruising opportunities in the Medway Estuary and the renowned MDL customer service that people using the new berths will experience. The local area has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, and we are proud to be part of this, whilst also ensuring our customer service and locations are of the very highest standards.
“We were delighted to welcome the Mayor and our other guests to this important occasion and look forward to seeing the new berths being well used this summer.”

Illustrating the company’s continued commitment to offering class-leading marinas and the finest customer experience for berth holders, Europe’s largest marina operator, MDL Marinas has recently completed another three refurbishment projects at its UK marinas. The leading operator has invested over £4m to-date, and has plans to continue to invest in the coming months.
Timed for the start of the new boating season, Sparkes Marina in Hayling Island has undergone a full refurbishment of its facilities with berth holders enjoying new toilet, washroom and laundry rooms. Queen Anne’s Battery in Plymouth has also undergone an extensive refurbishment with beautiful modern showers, toilets and washing facilities on-site. The two investments alone total over £500,000.
In addition, Ocean Village Marina in Southampton has seen upgrades to the internal décor, as well as upgraded modern facilities in line with Sparkes and Queen Anne’s Battery marina. All three upgrades have made significant improvements to the popular marinas and will be a very welcome addition to berth holders and visitors this season.
Jon Eads, Chief Operating Officer at MDL Marinas, commented: “We are committed to investing in our marinas and these three projects have transformed the berth holder facilities we offer. As Europe’s leading marina operator we are committed to not standing still and are continually looking at ways to not only improve and update our marinas, but also to ensure our customer service and locations are of the very highest standards. This is why many of our customers have been with us for years, and for us the focus always remains on ensuring our berth holders and visitors continue to get the very best out of their boating.”
The maintenance dredge of the dry boat sailing area at Sparkes Marina is now underway following delays due to high winds. The popular Dry Boat Sailing packages will still be in operation over the weekend and our experienced team will be on hand with any questions you may have.
Kerry Marriott, the Marina Manager will be hosting a 'New Berth Holders Meet & Greet' in Piranha Bar. This will be a great opportunity for our new berth holders to meet some of the team and learn more about the enhanced Club Outlook benefits.

Additional facilities at both marinas include 24-hour staffing, boat lifting and storage ashore, complimentary car-parking and CCTV.
Easy access to both marinas from London and further afield is provided by improved road links, and your boat can even be ready and waiting in the water for when you arrive. Situated within Chichester Harbour, the marinas offer easy access to one of Europe's largest natural harbours. An array of birds and marine life, stunning sunsets and calm waters are just some of the advantages of this beautiful location, with the harbour’s sheltered waters also provide safe cruising with access to the Solent close by.
Competitive summer and winter packages are also available at both marinas.
