MDL Marinas Set to Exhibit at its Biggest London Boat Show Yet

MDL Marinas, Europe’s leading marina operator, is looking forward to exhibiting at the 2017 London Boat Show in January, where they will be showcasing their extensive, ever growing network of over 100 European marina destinations.

This year’s MDL stand will welcome an impressive fresh design, situated next to the Which Marina? stand, and perfectly located for berth holders to explore MDL’s new, exciting network of destinations.

The Show will see the return of MDL’s fantastic ‘Cleat Challenge’, a true hit at the 2016 London Boat Show. Those participating will have the chance to win one of three Henri Lloyd jackets by competing for the fastest rope cleating time! Furthermore, MDL will be running a competition to win a year’s free berthing at any of their stunning UK marina locations. MDL Marina Manager Awarded with Queen’s Medal

MDL marina manager and Southampton firefighter, Jonathan Walcroft, has been honoured with the Queen’s Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Celebrating Success event.

Firefighters and staff came together for their annual awards evening on Thursday 1st December at the police training headquarters in Netley, to honour those who have gone above and beyond, and whose work has played a pivotal role in keeping residents safe.

Jonathan, who currently manages Saxon Wharf and Shamrock Quay, has dedicated the last twenty years to the fire service whilst running the local marinas.

Whilst working at Hamble Point Marina, Jonathan started out his career as a retained firefighter in 1996 at Hamble Fire Station. Jonathan then moved to St Mary’s where he was retained for four years after being promoted to marina manager at MDL Saxon Wharf and Shamrock Quay marinas in Southampton.

After two decades of juggling the management of marinas and serving in the Hampshire Fire and Rescue service, Jonathan now prides himself as a Crew Member at Hamble Fire Station and a Fire and Rescue Service Co-Responder.

Jonathan Walcroft, said: “The Celebrating Success event was a fantastic evening and it was a delight to be surrounded by so many inspirational people within the Hampshire Fire and Rescue service. It was extremely humbling to be awarded with the Queen’s Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct and I’m honoured that I could share it with my peers.”
