Round the Island Race 2017

From 22nd June 2017 until 2nd July 2017

The annual Round the Island Race sponsored this year by Cloudy Bay, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight.  This year the event takes place on Saturday 1st July. The race regularly attracts over 1,700 boats and around 16,000 sailors, making it one of the largest yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs.

Competitors come from all over the UK, other parts of Europe and as far away as the USA to follow the 50 nautical mile course round the Isle of Wight. Starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races westabout, to The Needles, round St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy, and back into the Solent to the finish line at Cowes.

Hamble Point Marina is the closest mainland marina to the start line and is a very poular base both before and after the race. Berths are booking up very quickly so please give us a call to secure your berth to avoid dissapointment. Alternative berths can also be found at our sister locations at Port Hamble Marina and Mercury Yacht Harbour.

Dogfish Dave's Fishing Competition

On the 1st July 2017

Dogfish Dave's annual Fishing Competition is taking place from Cobb's Quay again this year on Saturday 1st July at 8.00am. We will then be finishing up with a hot buffet and the prize giving in the Cobb's Yacht Club from 5.00pm. See you there!
