MDL Marinas, Europe’s largest marina operator, continues to lead the industry by becoming the first marina operator in Spain to offer electric vehicle charging points.
The new units have been installed at Sant Carles Marina in partnership with Ports de la Generalitat and incorporate two Tesla chargers. One is designed exclusively for Tesla vehicles and the second is available for electric vehicles with a Type Two Mennekes Connector.
The installation follows the introduction of electric charging points at some of MDL Marina’s UK locations last year, which included Ocean Village Marina in Southampton, Cobb’s Quay Marina in Poole, Queen Anne’s Battery in Plymouth and Hamble Point Marina. The installation saw MDL become the inaugural UK marina operator to feature the charging points.
MDL Marinas is renowned for being an innovator in the industry and is fully committed to ensuring its members enjoy the latest technology and benefits as part of their berthing package with the group. MDL was the first operator to launch WiFi in 2004 and is well-known for being a company that sets the industry pace, with a full corporate social responsibility plan and one of the most comprehensive berthing packages available in the marketplace.
Adrien Burnand, Head of Marketing at MDL Marinas, commented: “We are always striving to find new ways to add value to our member experience and recognise the increased demand for electric vehicles and charging points. Following last year’s UK launch and the popularity of the chargers, we are delighted to be introducing electric charging points into Spain, which is a key hub for leisure marine travel and cruising.
“Our key priority as a marina operator is to provide a service which is both valued by our members and supports the local environment. The Tesla chargers allow us to meet both ambitions and we hope our Sant Carles Marina members enjoy the latest innovation.”
