Whether it’s a table groaning with seafood, a crabbing contest for the little ones, jaw-dropping on-water displays, or a lovely walk along pontoons to admire the boats, our Marina Day events offer a warm welcome for boating, and non-boating communities alike.
An annual event, the day is fun and family-oriented and sees local communities welcomed onto our marinas across the UK for a wide range of activities. There is information on each of our marina's Facebook pages about the exciting plans for the day, but in the meantime, highlights include:
Torquay Marina Over 60 exhibitor stands will line the seafront as live music rings out across the bay, keeping the beat for RIB and jet ski rides, Stand Up paddleboarding lessons, face painting, airboats, and an inflatable theme park. As well as displays from the RNLI, and fire engines, there will be RNLI lifejacket inspections, sea safety stands and a lovely range of food and drink stands.
Hythe Marina Village Adding a very creative touch, Hythe Marina Village is going all out with its brand new Seafood Festival. A wealth of tantalising produce will be on display from 9am, with many local and national sea food connoisseurs displaying their wares. Alongside them, there’ll be a wonderful range of classic and supercars on the quay.
Woolverstone Marina From 2pm Woolverstone Marina will host the RNLI, Border Force and Shearwater Sailing School as well as English Spirit Distillery (for tastings and purchase). There’ll be a BBQ and brilliant live music to entertain everyone.
Sparkes Marina There’s a family fun day at Sparkes Marina (Hayling Island). Face painting, stalls, classic cars, balloon modelling and a crabbing competition will all be taking place from 11am-4pm, plus much more.
Shamrock Quay Starting the day with a crabbing contest from 9am, Shamrock Quay will be welcoming families to see how many crustaceans they can entice from the River Itchen. And, when that’s done, visitors can have their lifejackets safety checked while sponsoring a team from Force Four Chandlery who’ll be spending 12 hours in a liferaft in aid of the RNLI.
Cobb’s Quay Visitors to the Poole Harbour Boat Show can stop by MDL’s stand and chat to the team from Cobb’s Quay who will be on hand to answer any queries about becoming a berth holder at one of the network’s best kept secrets, before enjoying all the excellent activities on offer including displays, demonstrations, live music and fireworks.
Brixham Marina From 10am join the marina team for a fun filled day, titled Brixham on Water, with new boats on display, tuition sessions, demonstrations and even an industry exhibition.
“We’re thrilled that so many of our marinas continue to support this lovely event,” says Maxine Lane, MDL’s Senior Marketing Manager. “We are really looking forward to welcoming our berth holders and members of the local community into our marinas, whether that’s people making use of the lovely cafes and restaurants which line our watersides, or buying some wet weather gear from our chandlery tenants or even scoping out where they’ll berth that new boat they’re buying. Everyone is welcome.”
