Woolverstone Marina Visitor Guide

Woolverstone Marina Visitor Guide - Enjoying life at WoolverstoneWoolverstone Marina is set in 22 acres of glorious parkland on the picturesque River Orwell with the Royal Harwich Yacht Club nearby. There are a number of navigable estuaries close at hand, providing interesting sailing in sheltered waters. The adjacent River Stour is particularly scenic and there are numerous creeks in Walton Backwaters to explore. To the south, the Colne and Blackwater estuaries offer varied sailing, while turning north takes you towards the River Deben where you can cruise upriver past Ramsholt to the pretty town of Woodbridge. A little further up the coast is the Ore / Alde River, where a fast tide sweeps you past Havergate Island, up to picturesque Orford and on to Aldeburgh. more about Woolverstone Marina...

Ipswich and the River Orwell

Woolverstone Marina Visitor Guide - Ipswich WaterfrontHistoric Ipswich City has much to offer visitors including museums, art galleries, markets and craft stores. Take one of the City's many heritage trails and you will discover grand heritage homes, legendary pubs, beautiful parks and gardens. Relax and enjoy some fine dining in one of our many restaurants and cafes. Then stay the night in a fully-restored heritage bed and breakfast. The country area just outside Ipswich, known as the Scenic Rim, offers the chance to explore country towns, wineries, charming pubs and antique stores. Why not ride a steam train, go bushwalking or canoeing, and spend the night in a luxurious country retreat. HMS Orwell, named after the river, is also closely linked with the town. With the rise in popularity of the town around the Neptune Marina and the Wet Dock a number of ship and boatbuilders have become established, in particular Fairline Yachts are a significant employer. more about Ipswich and the River Orwell...
