Torquay Marina Visitor Guide
Set in the north-east corner of Torbay and sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly winds, Torquay Marina provides a safe haven for boats in all weathers. With modern facilities and superb bluewater cruising, it's popular with yachtsmen from home and overseas. The 440 berth marina is next to the Pavilion Shopping Centre, a beautifully restored Edwardian building, and right in the centre of the town giving easy access to shops, restaurants and bars. There are various marine tenants on site providing chandlery, boat brokerage and new boat sales. Basic provisions are available from the dock office and there is a restaurant and café, perfect for when you've worked up an appetite on the water. more about Torquay Marina...
Torquay and Torbay
Torquay lies 26 kilometres (16 miles) south of Exeter along the A380 on the north of Torbay, and adjoins the neighbouring town of Paignton on the west of the bay. In the 19th century, it became a fashionable seaside resort. Renowned for its healthy climate, it earned the nickname of the English Riviera. Torquay is also set along a coastline renowned for its golden sands, having no fewer than nine popular beaches. The high standards of water quality and beach facilities mean that many carry coveted awards, including no fewer than three European Blue Flags - more than any other resort in the UK. The string of nine beautiful beaches and coves stretched out along the palm lined coast of Torquay are as follows: Maidencombe Beach, Watcombe Beach, Oddicombe Beach, Babbacombe Beach, Anstey's Cove, Meadfoot Beach, Torre Abbey Sands and Corbyn Sands. more about Torquay and Torbay...
