Dartside Quay Visitor Guide

Dartside Quay Visitor Guide - Storage AshoreTucked away at the head of Galmpton Creek, Dartside Quay lies some three miles up river from Dartmouth. In a sheltered position and with beautiful views across to Dittisham, it offers extensive facilities along with a chandlery. The 7 acre dry boat storage area has space for over 300 boats and is serviced by a 65 ton hoist, one of the largest in the area, which operates from a purpose-built dock. There is also a 16 ton trailer hoist operating on a slipway. These facilities are complemented by various specialist marine tenants on site who can assist with boat repairs and maintenance. A number of summer mud moorings are also available. Dartside Quay's location offers access to spectacular cruising both up the River Dart, with its many secluded anchorages, and along the unspoilt West Coast. more about Dartside Quay...

Brixham and Dartmouth

Dartside Quay Visitor Guide - Historical BrixhamBrixham is at the southern end of Torbay, across the sheltered bay from Torquay, and is a fishing port. Brixham is home to one of England and Wales most successful fishing fleets and regularly lands more value than any UK port outside of Scotland. The town is hilly, and built around the harbour which remains in use as a dock for fishing trawlers; in addition, it has a focal tourist attraction in the replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship the Golden Hind that is permanently moored there. To the south of Brixham, and sheltering the southern side of its harbour, lies the coastal headland of Berry Head with a lighthouse, Iron Age Fort and National Nature Reserve. Battery Gardens have a military history leading back to the Napoleonic wars and the time of the Spanish Armada. The emplacements and features seen here today are those of the Second World War... more about Brixham and Dartmouth...
